Some years ago, in a hot Sunday, I was home alone. All my friends were on holidays, so I decided to go for a walk. I walked a little and went to the public park. It was a lovely park, with many, many trees and lots of colourful flowers.
I sat on a bench and started reading a book; I had my ipod, so I also listened to some of my favourites songs. But, after about half an hour I was tired, so I stood up and walked to the lake, where it was not so hot.
Suddenly I saw her – a beautiful girl was near the lake. She was so pretty, so cute that I fell in love with her. But I didn’t know who she was, I didn’t know her name, I didn’t know where she lived.
So, I said:
“ Hello, I am Tim. It’s very, very hot, today, don’t you think?”
-“ Hi, yes, it is; it’s really hot. My name’s Alice. Nice to meet you, Tim. “
Wow! I was astonished – her voice was so wonderful!
- “ What about an ice cream, or a fresh juice? “
- “ Thank you! Great! “

Some months later we got married – it was a warm and sunny day. After the party we went away. We had a fantastic honey moon in a beautiful island. We went to the seaside everyday, we swam a lot, we fished and we walked a lot, along the sea.
The following year Alice had a baby – well, in fact she had twins – two boys.
Last Saturday it was the twins’ second birthday. It was a big party; we invited the family – grandparents, aunts and uncles. The twins got a lovely pet dog – they were so happy.

It’s Spring and it is a gorgeous day. The weather is fine, not too hot.
My friends and I are in a wood, near the house. We are having a picnic. We have got tons of tuna sandwiches and ham sandwiches, in the picnic box. We also have got some chicken sandwiches, because Sarah doesn’t like ham and tuna.
Tim has got some peanut butter sandwiches just for fim, because we don’t like them. YUK. He says they are yummy.
We also have lemonade and iced tea to drink; we all love iced tea, but Toby prefers lemonade.
After lunch we can play football or sail in our boat. We can’t swim before four o’clock.
My sister Meg loves reading, so she has got an adventure book , but I prefer music, so I have my i pod.

I am Mouse Readytoread and I love when I have some free time; I go upstairs, to the attic; there I can find lots and lots of old books with wonderful stories from ancient times.
In my attic there is a book about Summer holidays.
Some are on the beach, some are on the country, but there is always a lot of fun.
The children are now on the beach; it is very hot and they are under the shadow of a huge palm tree. There are two orange parrots on the tree. Parrots are funny animals, because they can speak a little. The kids are playing with seashells. Seashels are funny, because you can hear the sea inside them.

Reading worksheet about family. There is a second one with some questions on comprehension, a third with a family tree for advanced vocabulary and a fourth one with a game board for speaking activities in small groups.
You can print and laminate, (about six or seven prints, it depends on the number of students; I usually print seven and work with groups of four students ). You must have the same number of dice and the individual marks. I make my dice in "Fimo" and do the same for the individual marks, but you can ask the students to bring old buttons, from old clothes, and they will do a great job.
